Joseph C. Savino

Joseph C. Savino is a partner in the firm's Litigation practice group. For almost 30 years, Mr. Savino has been a commercial litigator representing, primarily, the banking and insurance industries. Mr. Savino has tried cases and conducted evidentiary hearings in both the federal and state court systems. He has also briefed and argued numerous appeals before the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the First and Second Departments of the New York State Appellate Division. Mr. Savino has litigated matters ranging from multimillion dollar lending, corporate and bankruptcy disputes to mortgage foreclosure, insurance coverage, lender liability, libel and civil rights cases.

Mr. Savino is admitted to practice in the States of New York, New Jersey and Florida and before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third and District of Columbia Circuits as well as the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Southern and Western Districts of New York, the District of New Jersey, the Southern District of Florida, District of Columbia and the Court of International Trade.

Prior to joining the firm, he was a member of Zavatsky, Mendelsohn, Gross, Savino & Levy, LLP. Previously, he was associated with the firms of Mendes & Mount, Philips Nizer Benjamin Krim & Ballon and Wickham Wickham & Bressler. He also served as law clerk to Hon. Edward D. Re, Chief Judge of the United States Court of International Trade from June 1983 to June 1985.Mr. Savino is a graduate of Brookyn College, C.U.N.Y. (B.A., 1978) and New York Law School (J.D., 1983), where he was an editor of The Journal of International & Comparative Law and a member of the Moot Court Honor Society. As a law student, Mr. Savino authored a case comment which was published in the Journal of Maritime Law and Commerce.

Mr. Savino has represented pro se appellants before the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit pro bono, spoken at seminars on topics which include commercial litigation, debt workout and mortgage foreclosure and has been appointed by the Bankruptcy Court to investigate and report on lender liability issues.

Mr. Savino is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association and New York State Bar Association.
